# Choosing Your Modules

Beelocity covers a whole business: selling, buying, stock, production, upkeep, money and people.
Few businesses do all of it. A joinery that buys timber, makes furniture and sells it has no use for
**Payroll** while it employs nobody, or for **Foreign Trade** if it never imports.

**Modules** let your organization show only what it uses. A module that is off leaves the menu,
the search and the dashboard for everyone. When you turn it back on, it comes back exactly as it was.

## Turn a module off

1. Open **Settings** from the avatar menu, and choose **Modules** under **Workspace**.
2. Find the module. Each one says in one sentence what it is for.
3. Click its switch and confirm.

The module leaves the sidebar at once, for every member of the organization.

**Nothing is deleted.** Its records stay where they are. A record of another module that already
points at one of them still shows it: a purchase order that went through an import dossier still
names the dossier.

## Turn a module on

Click the switch of a module that is off.

Some modules need others to work. A till sells products from a warehouse and puts its cash in a
treasury account, so **Point of Sale** needs **Inventory**, **Sales** and **Treasury**. When turning
one module on brings others with it, Beelocity names them and asks before it does.

You can also turn a module on from the place you notice it is missing. Opening a page of a module
that is off says so, and offers **Turn on** to whoever may change the modules.

## What each module needs

| Module            | Needs                            |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------- |
| **Sales**         | Inventory, Business Partners     |
| **Procurement**   | Inventory, Business Partners     |
| **Foreign Trade** | Procurement, Treasury            |
| **Point of Sale** | Inventory, Sales, Treasury |
| **Online Store**  | Inventory, Sales                 |
| **Manufacturing** | Inventory                        |
| **Maintenance**   | Inventory                        |
| **Payroll**       | Human Resources, Treasury        |

Inventory, Business Partners, Treasury and Human Resources need nothing else.

A module that another module needs cannot be turned off while that other module is on. Its switch is
drawn paler: point at it to see which modules use it, or press it and Beelocity tells you. Turn those
off first.

<a id="what-disappears"></a>
## What disappears, and what stays

When a module is off:

- its entry leaves the sidebar;
- its pages, its **New …** actions and its records leave the search (`Ctrl+K`);
- its tab leaves the dashboard, with any figure you pinned from it;
- other modules stop offering its work. An employee has no **Pay** tab while Payroll is off, and a
  product has no **Bills of materials** tab while Manufacturing is off.

What a record already holds stays visible. An asset that has a work centre keeps showing it while
Manufacturing is off, and saving the asset keeps it.

**Modules are not permissions.** Turning one off hides it from everybody, the owner included. To
decide what one person may do, give them a role in **Settings → Roles**.

<a id="who-can-change-them"></a>
## Who can change the modules

The organization's owner can change the modules, and so can anyone whose role lets them change the
organization's modules. Everyone else who may open the page sees each module marked **On** or
**Off**.
