# Internal Transfers

An **internal transfer** moves money between two of your **own** treasury accounts — a sweep from one bank to another, a cash withdrawal from a bank into the till, or topping up an Algérie Poste **CCP**. It is never money from a customer or to a supplier: both sides of the transfer belong to you, so there is no partner involved.

The thing that makes a transfer special is the **in-transit gap**: money leaving one account is rarely available on the other the same instant. Beelocity handles this for you — when you **confirm** a transfer the money leaves the source straight away, but it only appears on the destination once you **complete** the transfer. In between, the money is held safely "in transit" — never double-counted, never lost.

## Opening Internal Transfers

Open **Treasury → Internal Transfers** in the sidebar. You will see one row per transfer, showing:

- **Number** — the document reference (transfers start with `TRF-`). Click it to open the transfer.
- **Date** — when the transfer was initiated.
- **From** and **To** — the source account the money leaves and the destination account it arrives in.
- **Sent** and **Received** — how much left the source and how much arrived on the destination. They are equal for a same-currency transfer and differ when an exchange rate applies.
- **Status** — Draft, Confirmed, Completed, or Cancelled.

The **filter button** beside the search box narrows by **Status**, **From**, **To**, **Active**, a **Date** window or an amount band — **Status = Confirmed** is the money in transit ([Working with lists](../getting-started/working-with-lists.html#narrowing-the-list)).

## Recording a transfer

Click **New**, then fill in the form:

- **Transfer Number** — leave it blank and Beelocity numbers it for you (`TRF-2026-000001`); type your own if you prefer.
- **From Account** and **To Account** — the source and destination. They must be two different accounts. Each account's **currency** is filled in for you automatically.
- **Amount Sent** — how much leaves the source account.
- **Amount Received** and **Exchange Rate** — when both accounts use the **same currency**, these are set for you (the amount received equals the amount sent, at a rate of 1). When the accounts use **different currencies**, type the amount that arrives on the destination and the rate that applies.
- **Fee Amount** and **Fee Account** — an optional bank charge and the account it is charged to (usually the source bank). Leave the fee at 0 if there is none.
- **Transfer Date** and **Value Date** — when the transfer is made, and (optionally) the bank value date when the funds actually count on the destination.
- **Clearing Code** and **Memo** — a reference code for the in-transit leg (defaults to 58) and a short note (e.g. "Cash top-up for the head-office till").

Save the draft. You can keep editing it until you confirm.

> Only accounts that are **open** can be picked — a frozen or closed account can't take part in a transfer.

## Confirming, completing, and cancelling

Open a transfer to act on it:

- **Confirm** — commits the source side. The money **leaves the source account** now (you'll see its balance drop) and is held in transit. If a fee was entered, the bank charge is recorded at the same time. The money has **not** yet reached the destination.
- **Complete** — commits the destination side. The money **arrives on the destination account** (its balance rises) and the in-transit clearing is settled. Use this once the funds have actually landed.
- **Cancel** — abandons the transfer. If it was still a draft, nothing happens to any balance. If it had already been confirmed, the money that left the source is **put back automatically**. You are asked for a reason.

Only a **draft** transfer can be deleted; once confirmed, cancel it instead so the audit trail is preserved.

> **Same-day transfers.** For a withdrawal you hand to the cashier the same morning, just confirm and then complete it right away — the money leaves and arrives in quick succession.

## Cross-currency transfers

When the source and destination accounts use different currencies — for example funding a euro account from a dinar account — the transfer records both amounts and the rate between them. You enter how much leaves in the source currency (say 1,489,500 DA), how much arrives in the destination currency (10,000 €), and the rate that links them. Same-currency transfers keep both amounts equal and need no rate.

## What changes automatically

You never adjust balances by hand:

- **Confirming** posts the money out of the source account (and records any fee), so the source balance drops. The money is now in transit.
- **Completing** posts the money onto the destination account, so its balance rises and the in-transit clearing is cleared.
- **Cancelling** a confirmed transfer reverses the money that left the source, restoring its balance.

Every one of these movements appears as a row in the [Cash Ledger](./cash-ledger.html), the single record behind every balance.
