The public holidays are the days the law makes paid holidays for everybody. They belong to your whole organization rather than to one module: you keep them once, here, and every part of Beelocity that counts working days reads the same list. They stay here whichever modules your organization uses, so a business that does not use Human Resources still keeps its feasts.
Keep the holiday calendar
Open Settings from your avatar menu, then Public holidays, under Calendar. The list shows every holiday on your calendar, one row per day, in date order.
Algerian law fixes two kinds of public holiday, and they are kept differently:
- The five civil holidays — 1 January, 12 January (Yennayer), 1 May, 5 July and 1 November — fall on the same dates every year. Beelocity adds them for you — the current year’s and the next year’s when your organization is created, and each following year’s as the year before it begins, if that year’s calendar is still empty. They are written in your organization’s language, and you can rename them.
- The religious feasts — Aïd el-Fitr and Aïd el-Adha (three days each), Awal Muharram, Achoura and the Mawlid — follow the moon, and their dates are announced only a day or two ahead. Add each one when it is announced.
Add a feast
- Press New.
- Pick the Date and type the Name — Aïd el-Fitr (first day), for example.
- If only the afternoon is off, as on the eve of a feast, switch on Half day. That day counts as half a day.
- Press Save.
A feast that lasts three days is three holidays, one per day: each day can fall on a day your business rests anyway, or be a half day of its own. One day holds one holiday — Beelocity refuses a second holiday on a date already on the calendar.
Add the civil holidays of another year
You can add the civil holidays to any year yourself — a year ahead, a past year you are recording leave for, or a year whose dates you deleted by mistake.
- On the Public holidays list, open the ⋮ menu and choose Add a year’s civil holidays.
- Type the Year — any year from 2000 to 2100.
- Press Add a year’s civil holidays.
Beelocity says how many days it added. A date already on the calendar is left exactly as it is, even if you renamed it or made it a half day, so a year that already has its five dates gets none. A leave already recorded across a date it adds is counted again by itself, as it is when you add a feast by hand.
Remove a holiday
Open the holiday and choose Delete. A day that is not a holiday has nothing left to record, so it is removed rather than kept as inactive.
What reads the calendar
A holiday you add, change or remove reaches everything below at once. You never type it a second time.
- Leave. A day of leave is never counted on a public holiday, so a month off that crosses 1 November keeps its day. A leave already recorded across a holiday you add is counted again (How leave days are counted).
- Pay. Somebody who works a public holiday is paid its premium on their payslip, and is owed rest of the same length (Give the rest a worked holiday earns).
- The roster. Each holiday is marked on the month’s roster and on the attendance sheet (Shifts and rotas).
- The workshop. A work-center calendar that closes on public holidays is shut on each of them, and from noon on a half holiday: the scheduler, the planning run and the maintenance deadlines plan around them (Close on public holidays).
Who may keep the calendar is set in a role, under Organization (Roles and permissions).
