When somebody leaves, they are owed money: the leave they earned and did not take, and, depending on why they left, notice paid instead of worked and an indemnity. This is the final pay, and the month they left in pays it on their last payslip.
This page starts once the departure is on the register — see When someone leaves. The paper the law requires at every departure, the work certificate, is printed from Human Resources: see The work certificate.
Settle a departure
- Open the person’s record. Their status reads Left.
- Open More actions and choose Start the final pay. A new final pay opens with the person already named. If this departure already has one, the item reads Open the final pay and opens it instead. While the person is still employed the item is greyed out, and pointing at it says to record the departure first.
- Record what only you can decide. The page asks only what the reason for leaving allows — on a
resignation, nothing — and a gross fault, once ticked, puts the notice and the severance away:
- Gross fault — the dismissal was for a gross fault. Only the leave is then paid.
- Notice paid in lieu — the days of notice you pay instead of having them worked, on a dismissal or a workforce reduction.
- Admitted to unemployment insurance — on a workforce reduction, the person joined the CNAC scheme.
- Severance — the amount your collective agreement grants on leaving. The law sets none, so Beelocity never works one out.
- Press Save. Beside the record, What the month pays shows each figure with how it was reached — 38 × 2,000.00 DA = 76,000.00 DA — and the total.
- When the figures are right, move the status to Confirmed. From the month’s next computation, the person’s last payslip carries them.
What each departure is owed
- The leave not taken, whatever the reason for leaving. Each day is worth a thirtieth of the person’s average monthly pay, as article 52 of Law 90-11 counts it: the pay of the period that earned the leave, over the days worked in it.
- Notice paid in lieu, on a dismissal or a workforce reduction, at a day of the person’s full monthly pay for each day — their allowances included, because the law says the pay they would have received. A resignation’s notice cannot be bought out.
- Three months of the average pay of the last twelve months, on a workforce reduction when the person is admitted to unemployment insurance (décret législatif 94-09).
- The severance you typed, on a dismissal or a workforce reduction.
A gross fault leaves only the leave. A departure during probation, the end of a fixed term, a resignation, a retirement or a death leaves only the leave too. Beelocity refuses anything else and names the field.
The leave payout and notice pay are taxed and bear social security like the rest of the month. The reduction indemnity and the severance bear neither: the tax code exempts an indemnité de licenciement, and the social-security rules exclude it. If your accountant reads the reduction indemnity differently, change the flags on its pay element.
Before the month closes
A final pay only changes a month that is still open. Reopen a confirmed one to change it; once the month’s payroll is closed, it cannot be settled or changed any more. Until the month has been computed, What the month pays says so: the departure month’s own pay is part of what a leave day is worth, and it is counted once that month has been worked out.
Print the final pay statement
The statement is the paper you hand the person with their last pay: each amount the departure month’s payslip paid them, and a line for them to sign.
- Open the final pay. Its status reads Confirmed, and the month has been computed.
- Open More actions and choose Print final pay statement, or Download final pay statement for a file, and choose the language. Until the final pay is confirmed the two are greyed out, and pointing at them says why.
The statement carries:
- your organization’s letterhead, and a number made of the person’s employee number and the day;
- the person, their hire date, the day the employment ended and the reason;
- each amount under the name of its pay element, with how it was reached in figures — 38 × 2,000.00 DA — and the total;
- the payslip it was paid on, by number once the month is closed, and that payslip’s net pay;
- a sentence saying the person received these amounts, their signature, and yours.
The amounts are the payslip’s, read from it rather than worked out again, so the two papers cannot disagree. Print it after the month is closed: that is when the payslip has its number.
It is a receipt, not a waiver. Algerian law gives no release effect to a signature on such a paper, and nothing on it says the person gives anything up.
Beelocity refuses to print a final pay that is still a draft, and one whose month has not been computed yet: choose Compute the month’s payslips on its payroll run first.
